Millions of people worldwide make the choice of starting a new diet every week. You would think by now with the fact that ninety nine percent of dieters actually end up heavier, that the human race would eventually realize that diets don’t work.

The diet industry is making millions every week with their tactics of preying on people that want to lose weight. Diets are just a temporary fix for weight loss, and in the end have a negative effect on your body.

The first reason for not going on a diet is they simply don’t work. Ninety nine percent of the people that start a diet end up putting the weight back on, and they always add a few pounds as well. If you look at a group of average people you’ll see that the people that are always dieting are the ones that are almost always overweight.

The second reason is, dieting slows down your metabolism. Every one who starts a diet will lose weight at first, but this is just water loss because you’re eating less. Once your fluid level evens out then your muscles will start wasting away because you’re no longer eating enough calories and nutrients to feed them.

The muscle breakdown is what causes your metabolism to slow down. When you eventually start eating properly the weight piles back on due to your new slower metabolism added to your sudden increase in calories.

The third reason is, dieting leads to depression. Because diets don’t give your body enough calories that means you’re always low on energy, and you brain needs its nutrition as well. People go on diets to make themselves feel better, but you won’t feel better living in an undernourished body that lacks energy and vitality.

Mood swings are not uncommon either as your body’s sugar levels rise and fall when they want to. Some diets mean eating only two or three times a day which leaves a lot of time between meals in which sugar levels can drop too low.

As you can see diets are in no way beneficial to your health. You’ll gain nothing in your life by deciding to eat less than your body needs. To successfully lose weight you need to eat a balanced healthy diet that is filled with all the right foods and plenty of nutrition.

A healthy diet will give you the energy to exercise which is something else that is needed for you to lose weight. Exercise increases your metabolic rate, and it burns calories and fat. Exercise also releases endorphins so you actually feel better, and exercise gives you more energy.

Doing these two things not only make you lose weight, but you feel better than you have for a long time, and you’ll sleep better at night as well.
