Resistance Training
Resistance training is a great way to reduce and lose weight. When you are doing resistance training, you are using all the muscles of your body. You are not isolating the body into segments, but working the entire body as a whole. This is the most efficient means of losing weight. When you workout, and your goal is to lose weight, the most important thing for you to remember is that when you are training, your focus should always be on working the whole body.
When you work the entire body, you are using more muscles, large and small and thus encouraging the development of muscle all over the body. Building muscle is important for weight loss, because more muscle means more exertion from the body. If we can push more and more from the body, then we end up with more calories being burned. The thing some people get confused about is the type of exercise they should be doing. It is easy to be confused with the amount of information there is in the world:

Cardio Boxing – whole body work out = more calories burned.
Cardio Kick Boxing – whole body workout = even more calories burned.
The whole point is to understand that the more you involve all over resistance training workouts in your workout routines, mixed with a good quality diet, you will be encouraging the development of muscles and thus the ability of the body to expend energy and burn more calories per workout. This in and of itself, will lead to losing weight – because the output of a full body workout is more than most can put back into their body through eating. To put this in perspective, if you workout for an hour for a full body training session, you would have to sit down on your butt for a full day and eat all day to replace what you took out.
Sounds a bit silly, but its true. When you workout the entire body, you get a HUGE workout that elevates your Basal Metabolic Rate and thus encourages more fat to be burned, even when you are resting. This is why resistance training is important – big muscles, performing more often, leads to weight loss through more calories burned.
