A Simple Trick To Help You Keep Yourself From Snacking

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

When you’re all alone in your house, it’s easy to wander into the fridge or the cupboard and grab a snack. After all, no one’s looking right? The only problem is that you’re cheating yourself, not someone else! So it’s up to you to be proactive and set up little reminders to keep yourself from snacking on junk food. This trick is sure to help.

Go to your local office supply store and grab some of those small, round stickers. Now stick them around your house in all the places where you keep your unhealthy snacks.

Stick one on that shelf in the fridge, and another on those shelves in your pantry that you have a hard time staying away from. Wander around your kitchen (maybe even your bedroom) and think of all the places where you have junk food stashed and put a sticker there.

But don’t overuse them! If they cover your house you’re likely to ignore them, which is not the goal.

Now whenever you go to grab a snack you’ll see your stickers. When you see them think of your desire to lose weight, and if it’s worth that small snack, or if there’s a healthier alternative you could choose instead.

Many of use have bad habits of wandering into the kitchen and grabbing some sort of food that’s very unhealthy just because we feel like snacking, even though we’re not hungry. These stickers will help you think twice and evaluate what you’re doing.

Eventually you’ll notice that you start to change your underlying habits of snacking, and you won’t even need the stickers anymore!

How To Keep Track Of Your Weight To Stick To Your Goals

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

If you’re trying to lose weight, how can you tell if you’re making progress? Sure if you hop on the scale once in awhile you’ll see how much you weigh, but is that really accurate? Our bodies don’t stay the same weight all the time, in fact it can fluctuate quite a bit throughout every day.

Your goal should be to lose at least one pound per week. It may not seem like a lot, but small losses over time will add up and greatly encourage you. Here’s how to keep track of your weight accurately so you know if you’re making progress or regressing.

Every day at the same time hop on your scale. Do it before you even eat anything, and be sure you’re wearing the same thing every time. The more consistent you can be the better.

Keep a little log next to your scale where you can write down your daily amounts. At the end of the week, get your calculator out and add all the numbers up and divide by 7 (as long as you recorded all 7 days). That number will be your average weight for that week.

Now repeat this every week and you’ll be keeping a very accurate account of what you weigh and how much you’ve lost. Remember that your weight is just a method of keeping track of your progress. If you fail one week and gain a couple pounds, don’t look at it as a failure, but reflect on that week and how it happened. Use that knowledge you gain in the future to better stick to your plan.

Losing weight is all about small changes that add up over time, and learning about your body to keep the momentum going.
